to get after the christmas shopping,I refuse to do the Black Friday thing so I will wait until Thanksgiving is over to do some serious shopping

Not going to have a lot of family here this year which makes me kind of sad,but on the other hand I look at the positive side I don't have all the cooking and clean up to do

Ugh I despise this time of year...I won't be heading out to the malls any time soon. I need to get into the spirit to be able to shop.

Although it is a tough time of the year for me,I still love it

I don't have the luxury of being in the mood as I ship so much stuff to canada and all over the states which means I need to get my butt in gear and get the stuff done and ready to go

I'm starting Christmas cards today so they will be ready to send out.

Luckily everyone we are buying for wants gift cards... so all I have to buy for is the hubby.... and I have his list so it'll be easy.

I have some of mine done,at least most of the ones that go to Canada,I would simply send gift cards to the grandkids, but the stuff they want is not available there GRRRRRRRRRRRR,don't know if I will get around to christmas cards this year or not, seems the time is going so quickly right now

Thanksgiving is Thursday so I have that to deal with then it seems I just got the dishes done and it is time to cook for Christmas

I like the lights hate everything else.
I'm a bah humbug.
Most people are just making ends meet and this doesn't help.
We need to go back to the simple stuff.

I am trying-lol

I've only bought one gift so far. Told family that I'm just buying for my two kids this year and with them it won't be much. Also for a couple of friends who I always exchange gifts with every year, but just getting them something small for their dogs. I took this Friday off, hoping to catch some decent Black Friday deals. Last year's deals sucked.

I hope you find some good deals BBE.
I love so much about Christmas but the money factor.
I can afford a few things for my loved ones but I have no kids.
I see many people with kids really struggling to keep up.
I worked tonight with a little 12 -13 year old volunteer, asked her what girls her age would like for Xmas.
She wants One Direction to come to her house-lol
But since that isn't likely she wants gift cards. Smile

I have so many children both grown and teens it gets really priceywe decided this year anyone over 18 was pretty much done and I really don't want anything.

I hate the part of Christmas when I start hearing THIS IS WHAT I WANT,makes me want to stop shopping altogether

I'm totally behind this year. Usually I have all the cards written and presents wrapped and under the tree by this time. I'm working on a handmade gift that has taken me since April to do and I still have another month's work left to do. It will be tight to get it done in time.

I'm also annoyed that my brother's girlfriend gave a list of things NOT to buy her when she was asked for ideas. Seriously. She hurt my moms feelings by saying all the things she doesn't want in her stocking that my mom puts in every year. I don't know who she thinks she is but we're not changing traditions because she doesn't want a damn toothbrush.

Boston, if I were your mom, I would put one of those lump of coal gag gifts in her stocking and only that or one of those plastic dog turds. Probably just wouldn't get her anything at all. I don't expect anything for Christmas but it's nice when someone gets me something practical that I can use (ie. toothbrush, toothpaste, fruity flavoured smelling body sprays, etc..).

She is rude.

I sent my brother an email asking what size shirt she wears and I got an email back from him that says she doesn't want any clothes. She wants money. Over my dead body.

Perhaps I'm just in a mood.

That's what my husband said to get her too.

My mom always fills the stockings with the same thing. A clementine in the toe, a toothbrush, a magazine, lip balm, and chocolate. She told her she doesn't want anything except the magazine. She also sent her a list of things she doesn't want to see under the tree. She's seriously rude.

Sounds like your brother needs to have a serious discussion with his gf. Maybe discuss with her that she won't be receiving anything from his side of the family and he doesn't expect anything from her side of the family, to make things a little easier and save your mom some money on not having to buy for someone rude.

I agree. I'm also angry at my brother for allowing that behaviour towards my mom. I know he was brought up better than that.

That just confirms what I said earlier,it is getting to the point of what are you getting me.

what the hell happened to family gatherings and just being grateful that everyone could come and share a meal

Last Christmas over half my kids were here with their kids and it was awesome. The best part was that I bought 2 of my oldest biological kids Stupid Shelbys(furby family) and they got on the floor with them and played all evening.

For me Christmas is a time to be together with your family, spend some quality time and sadly none of my kids are coming this year.but on the bright side I will have my step grand daughter and her new husband so all is not lost

I am happy if someone buys me a candle and some bubble bath

Wow Boston, slap that girl...geeze the audacity. I have a sister in law who used to insist that my mom not buy her kids anything from Giant Tiger because all it is, is crap. I never got over that and guess where her gifts came from. LOL

Personally, I am at a point in my life where I don't want gifts, while I appreciate them I would rather someone buy a kid from the mall's tree a gift in my honour. I am happy to just "be" with my family and enjoy the time that we have together.

Our tree here at work had over 400 names of children on it so I did take two names and buy them gifts but that is as far as I've gotten.

wow that is rude...It's all useful so what's her major malfunction? Spoiled brat syndrom? I agree with others, lump of coal, plastic poop...I thinks it's hard enough to shop for people as it is.
