The Princess and Company Empty
PostSubject: The Princess and Company   The Princess and Company Icon_minitimeWed 05 Jan 2011, 1:38 am

Tis shocking...lol...but Cailleach Princess has very recently lost a tad of her distain for early rising. When she was an only dog she didn't arise til she felt like it (usually at 9ish) when hubby got up. Although smaller than the others she "is the boss". Anyone touches her stuff...toys, food or her beds she's had forever she lets the rest know that's hers. She does nothing but a low growl and they back off, too funny. She's a very sweet tempered dog that I have been saying forever is an uncommon individual. I really don't think "I" made her this way, she's naturally really girly. She hates mud, other animal poop, her hair messy, her toys which she keeps in neat piles (proof right there as I am not as tidy as her...lol) and if her claws get a tad long she chews on them (a hint she wants a manicure). She enjoys dog clothes, prances around when she gets anything new. The odd occasion she gets a poopie stuck in her hair she is mortified...she comes to me, (get that off of me I want a bath) she literally hides under the table if that happens. Do dogs get embarrassed???

She also dislikes cold weather and picks and chooses when she will join us on our trips to the farm, I don't make her come with, leave it up to her. Tonight was amusing, was unseasonably warm and she was into going with us. She sometimes thinks she wants to go all the way but changes her mind and comes partway and turns back to home if she gets cold (even in her winter wear) so we all escort her back after she's finished doing "her business". Never have I owned a dog as fussy about where they will "go"... she will spent forever picking the right spot to adorn the earth with her pee and poop. The others are done and finished, like normal dogs, but not her she's always the last one in even if it's 40 below.

Tonight I didn't notice that she had taken her favorite toy out onto the deck and left it there when I was busy unlocking the gate. She's had it for 8 years and it's the one that if the others touch it she has to give it a tongue bath. It goes to bed with us every night along with a few other of her things. We get 7'8 s of the way to the farmhouse where she was in the lead and she turns around and heads for home. She was hoofing it, and I told her to stop and picked her up and carried her the rest of the way thinking she was cold. She was happy to visit with my mom and the other dogs but when I went to go out to chore up she wanted out, not like her at all. Carried her back up the stairs and left...on my return my mom tells me she was whining, she's not a whiner. So we all leave and she takes off running for home. I am like WTF, she's usually the slow one, sniff here sniff there pee on stuff. She was a rocket. We catch up and there she is at the door with her prized toy in her mouth and then she was happy. What a unique little girl, heavy on the GIRL. I think she would have been a really good mother if ever she had been bred.

Took this pic of her today. Her and hubby were relaxing after lunch and watching the noon news. Been feeling guilty about how few pics I take of her since I have the others. There she is with her precious "blue baby". She's just adorable and such a princess. LOL...I sound so similar to Jenn but that's the way it is.

She is adorable and truly a princess. I love that animals always have their own personalities.

I thought all Shih Tzu's were like this, mine has a favorite "toy" as well a small stuffed yellow cat. The youngest granddaughter likes to hide it on him in the toybox we have here for them. The cats play with it after he goes to bed. He brings it to every room he's in and lays down beside it. He doesn't mind the cold though and we trek him everwhere the mal goes, tough little guy, until he gets home then he starts whining if he can't go everywhere I go. He's very anal doesn't like poop on his butt, he even knows the phrase " want your bum washed" He likes to lick my feet. He acts like a rottweiller when anyone comes to the door, I swear he's my rotti re-incarnated.

The really funny thing about this thread is that most pets take on the personality of their owners. I don't care if I get dirty, I can always take a bath, I'm not a princess. My dog is the same way and has an easy going personality like me, wait and see attitude. For some reason I'm having a really hard time picturing Pooper being a princess. LOL

Gee now you have me thinking about the house dog personalities. All of mine are different but I can see portions in them that so resemble me.

When I was in my twenties I was a lot like Cailleach, I was a rather pampered fashion focused, hair focused, and dare I admit it...snobby, picky eater...nails always had to be perfect so I had people to do the dirty work for me. My poor husband and my riding students were expected to adjust buckles and do up saddles as not to break a nail. The only portion of that phase that remains is I am still a picky eater and the nail thing.

Julio has my tenacity and is athletic, he doesn't like people in our space. He's lucky he gets away with growling at them and I don't Lol. He gets frustrated when things don't go his way and handles it by doing something physical to burn off negative energy. He doesn't mind getting dirty, in fact he could care less...these things are like me.

Arriba is very dedicated to those she cares about and worries and fusses about what everyone is doing. She wants to know who's doing what, where they are and doesn't warm up to anyone until she trusts them. Away from familiar territory she's very cautious of strangers and sits back and watches. She doesn't like anyone unknown approaching her or touching her. That's a lot like me.

So how does everyone else armchair assess themselves and their dogs? Smile

hmm well maybe.. they take on resemblence a little bit.. ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha......

I agree 2 cats and 2 dogs here all with their own personalities. We all share the same routine though.

I would have to say my dog's personality is more like mine. Laid back, easy going, wait and see attitude. She's one of the goofier, lets have silly fun type of Rotties, but can be serious when the situation calls for it. Aloof with strangers, some days athletic, other days not. LOL

My cats are nothing like me, but the grey / white tabby reminds my of my youngest child, never shuts up, mouth running a mile a minute. LOL
