Like Collies

I have been planning to do some training in competitive obedience for CKC competition. The website is below if you want to see some exceptional Collies and folks whose breeding program I respect belonging to the course instructor. Dave is a hoot, quite the comedian so it should be an enjoyable winter of classes and hopefully a relaxed atmosphere if we get accepted in the classes. He's pretty picky about who he selects to school ... he is a friend of my daughters and I know him a bit for a couple of years, mostly about puppies and pictures. He seemed keen on working with us when it was talked about it. Bwhaha if I get in I expect I will meet a lot of people similar to Red, I just know it...will go shopping for snob spray. Is it available at Walmart.

Those are beautiful collies. Pooper, I know you'll get into that class, you work very hard with your dogs.

LOL..waves to our Yorkie ... this one. Don't know when we are starting for sure...David is a professional handler and is off to Japan to show there in November for two weeks. I don't know why so many people think you can't make money breeding dogs because his show quality pups sell for $10,000.00 The one in his logo, the merle puppy, is one he sold in June to a man from Japan. Since the sale he has been jetting that dog to shows all over North America at the owners cost all expenses paid and is taking the dog to the new owner and showing her there for them. Must be nice... sigh.

The breeder of my dogs does the same for a living. There's usually 3- 4 of them that take around 25 - 30 dogs to each show most every weekend and travel together. They are often featured in the dog magazines with the winning dogs they have shown. Met them at the show when Arriba was being shown, we all went out for a smoke. Then after when I started paying attention to dog show results, I went, wait a minute...these were the other smokers in all these pictures.

Good professional dog handlers make a lot of money. A couple of years ago when I was watching clips of the Westminster Dog Show on the news, they were saying the dog handlers there make $100,000 annually. To think I went to college to get an education in computer science when I just could have become a dog handler instead. Ahhh! LOL

Japan is a very expensive country to visit, $10,000 Cdn is like pocket change over there.

Ain't that the truth. Well it's not too late for you to start ya know. Devious little me is hoping I can catch a few rides with these guys to the shows being they live very close to me as I hate driving and my hubby is about as interested in watching dog shows as he is horse shows, which amounts to near nil.
