This should go in the rescue dog of the day section, but there is an article that links to this. Going to post it here.
http://www.windsorstar.com/life/Crippled+puppy+abandoned+cardboard+adoption/3367951/story.htmlWINDSOR, Ont. -- A disabled puppy that was abandoned in a cardboard box by the side of a road last March is in need of a permanent home.
The tiny beagle puppy was discovered March 19 by a UPS driver who was delivering on a route in Essex. The UPS worker brought the puppy to the humane society, where it was diagnosed with serious physical limitations. The dog had very little use of its hind legs and was unable to walk or stand.
Through rehabilitation, the dog, named Crooks by workers at the humane society, was able to regain some strength and uses a doggie wheelchair.
Humane society staff say they're not sure what caused the puppy's injuries, but said he is unlikely to regain full mobility or strength.
The humane society is seeking an adoptive home for Crooks and is encouraging those who can offer the puppy ongoing love and support to contact the adoption centre for more information.
