PostSubject: Gophers   Tue 15 Jun 2010, 1:12 am

Ack...gophers are so destructive but soooo dam cute. They are doing some bad excavating under my barn and in the field, they really have to go but...what to do!!! My head says get someone to kill them but my heart says ...awwws so mean. Last year was just one but now the babies are running up and down the stable alley and since I've been playing with them they are almost pets, one come and eats grain out of my hand. The cats can walk within a few feet of them and yawn...not interested. Seriously they have to go but my idea of live trapping them and relocating them is just wrong. It's like stray cats etc. being dropped off at farms for others to deal with. First time in 30 plus years we have had gophers...any humane ideas on how to dispose of them. Sad Sad Sad

Your a very kind hearted person Pooper - unfortunately all my ideas involve death as I consider gophers to be the equivalent of a rat - destructive rodent. One thing you might try is to snare them then re-locate them to a field somewhere. (use to snare gophers as a kid) If you don't move them from under your barn, you will start having problems with your barn floor due to their excavating.

ha ha ha.. somehow I can picture you and your little gophers.

Now, I have a question.. ANd hopefully you will be able to help me.. I can posts pics if it helps

I think it is voles.. but you guys may have more experience with it

But they are ruining my yard

I look like mini alien ships have landed on my yard. It is covered in brown circles. No holes. How the heck do I get rid of them. They are really bad this year

Any ideas?

Mini, does this resemble your yard?

http://www.volecontrol.com/above_ground.html

Lots of good info under the tabs at the top for voles, moles and gophers.

Anybody want to claim this guy? I have his mini version living under my front doorstep, cause he claimed the shed long ago.
