| Mini, I know the feeling. My youngest is 11 ... LOL Been contemplating about finding the time and getting back into karate and kickboxing. Only a couple more belts to go before I reach black belt, but just don't have the interest in the sport like I used to. Either that or a cardio kickboxing class a few days a week. | |

| I just had a baby on the 23rd and have been dieting and working out since I got home. Pre-pregnancy I was 103lbs, at the end of my pregnancy I was 140lbs. When I came home I was 120lbs. Today I'm 114.8 lbs. I'm still quite gooey though, but it's a working process.
My day begins with a light breakfast, usually a bowl of oatmeal and water. Shortly after I eat (about 20 minutes later) I take the dogs out for a run. We run them one at a time, for a minimum of 40 minutes. During this I walk about 1 km while also throwing a toy.
For lunch I usually have something a bit heavy(like perogies) but I make sure I only eat enough to help me get through the day. I do not eat until I'm full at this point...as my appetite is still quite large from being prego. I drink lots of water. Never pop...when I'm craving something sweet I have fruit juice. I also do not snack. When I get the urge to snack, I drink a big glass of water.
At supper time I really limit my portions, as my fiance love fatty foods. Really keep an eye on what your daily requirements are and try not to exceed them.
Before bed I work out for about an hour. It's important that you're doing the right kind of exercise when trying to tone your abdomen. Do not do the traditional "sit=ups" and crunches. They are counter productive for postpartum toning and actually make your abdomen protrude out. It's important that you are only exercising your lower spine instead of your upper spine. This is why floor exercises are reccomended for postpartum women. Whenever you're exercising make sure your pulling your tummy muscles towards the spine(inward) instead of pushing them out (crunches promote your tummy muscles to push out). Essentially, you are trying to train your muscles to hold themselves in instead of building them out....You can pull your tummy muscles in(flex in) at any point during the day, it makes a great exercise and after about 2 days of doing this often, you'll "feel the burn", so to speak.
Floor exercise is really great for toning the legs as well as the abdomen. Lay on your back (not flat, allow your spine to retain it's natural curve) and raise both of your legs as high as you can (keeping legs together, not spread apart). Count to ten and slowly lower them until they are about 8 inches off of the ground. Hold this position for as long as you can comfortably do it, not exceeding 20 seconds. Repeat this process 10 times.
Pelvic thrusts are also fantastic for toning the thighs. I will often turn on the T.V and hold the position for a few minutes as I watch my shows.
This might sound silly, but a hula-hoop might be your best friend at this point. 5 minutes of hula hooping 3 times a day will definately help tighten your muscles. If you have kids, this might also be a fun activity for you to do together. Be sure you're hula hooping with you tummy and not your spine. Keep your legs straight and your upper body still.
You might also consider buying a belly dancing dvd. I picked one up...after you get passed the sillyness (I felt like a tool the first few times I did it) the exercises are really great and low impact.
Remember to stretch and do 5 minutes of light cardio before attempting to excersise.
If you can commit to a good routine and healthy diet, you should start to see results right away. Just be sure you find the routine that's right for you... And don't give up or get discouraged if you don't see results right away. Everyone is built differently. |

| less salt -salt stores water. which water is extremely heavy! No white bread-need i say more? Ever heard about your PH? google PH balance in humans.. i got into it a little bit.. but my parents are heavy into it. dad lost 17lbs in only 2 months, mom lost 14lbs. -Cut out the juice! Sounds weird, juice comes from fruits. should be good right? nope lots of sugar in there! eating the same ammount of food in short meals will help your body desolve the food, then eating a bunch of different foods in a small amount of time. umm.. few others i know of. Think positive, and tell your body that its losing weight! |

I belly dance. I even know how to pole dance. belly dancing is FANTASTIC exercise and it's fun. It's low impact and still works everything. It's a great cardio and stomach toning exercise. I really don't diet. I refuse. I think it's silly. Most of it's common sense. We know what's good for us we just give in to our weakness. I am a vegetarian so it's easy for me to stay eating healthy food but I do have a chocolate weakness. |

| lol.. I was talking to some friends about pole dancing. Apparantly its great...
I want to get into kickboxing..
The lightest I have ever been was 135.. and I was super small. I am 5'7 ish.. I carry my weight pretty well.. At that weight I was at the gym almost every day, and jogging close to 2 hours a day. I was pretty solid.
Id love to lose a few pounds but right now im just discouraged.. With my health issues their's days where I look 4 months pregnant then I wake up the next day and Im flat again.. Its soo annoying and I have to watch what I eat constantly.
As soon as I have a regular income again, I will be joining the gym. Usually I do, 30-40 minutes of treadmill, cruches, weights, sit ups. and pool.
As for eating, when Im right into it, I eat corn flakes for breakfast, with fruit. For lunch I may have soup, hard boiled eggs. tuna, salad..
And for supper I usually eat something like fish and rice, or chicken..
Lots of water.. People dont realise but pop and juice really adds to the daily calories..
Also eating snacks in between the meals is great, such as a fruit, veggies.. It keeps your tummy filled, so you dont over indulge when you eat your meal.

| You will love kickboxing.. I loved it when I tried it out on the base.. I took it for a couple of years..
I still have the gloves and my bags.. I am hoping to be able to put them up in the barn.. as the basement doesn't give me much room.. LOL
I have a friend who also swears by pole dancing. I just don't feel like travelling into the city.. lol

I want to get into kickboxing.. You'll love kickboxing. I took it up along with karate about 8 years ago, did it for 5 years. Originally took it to tone up and lose weight, wasn't interested in doing it as a competing. Then a year after taking it, I got addicted to doing tournaments. Took a break from it, it's been 3 years now. If you can find an aerobic studio that's reasonably priced, that teaches the cardio kickboxing for now, it's worth taking. I would hold off on going to a martial arts studio to learn until you give yourself time to heal.
