Dog's Tail Empty
PostSubject: Dog's Tail   Dog's Tail Icon_minitimeTue 01 Oct 2013, 7:57 pm

So, I asked the groomer to shave my Shih Tzu right down even his tail cause I hate the long fluffy tail look with the shave. He has been in pain since then I thought it was because he was itchy from being shaved then had his anal glands expressed the other day, thought it was that. Checked out his tail closer tonight and it feels bent with a lump on it. Poor little guy I made an appt. at 10:10 tonight to see what they can do.

Do you stay with your dogs when they get groomed?
(I feel like a grooming brat)

I won't leave mine any more.
Too many bad things happened while I was there-not to mention the shit I didn't see.
(when I stupidly left)

You sure your doggie just didn't have a broken tail before you left him at the groomers?
I slammed my dog's tail in the screen door once years ago.
Nice bend and a bump that I didn't see until I got his tail shaved at the groomer. (many moons ago)
But I took him to the vet and they told me his tail had been broken-healed badly but not a big problem
Damn that screen door.

Not making light of your issue at all.
Just thinking out loud.

Also, I 'd be really careful about groomers and anal glands.

I hope your pup is ok.

Well $132. dollars later to find out his tail was broken but a long time ago maybe even at birth and healed badly. His anal glands were expressed by a vet tech, the vet checked again tonight and that was okay. He gave him a shot of metacam and benadryl to calm him down hope he's better tomorrow I'm supposed to give the benadryl 2x a day till they run out. Still don't know what's wrong with the little bugger but I hope he's better tomorrow.
When I left the vet there was a car full of bull mastiff's HUGE and in a car the size of a sunfire or cavalier there were 4 of them and she had another one in the vet. The windows were all the way down so I quickly got Rocky in the car, I was parked so close to them. I thought they may want Rocky as a snack!! I had to bring Ruby too because she freaks when Rocky and I go out together, separation anxiety. Well he's freaking out again now trying to get his tail again I'm going to put him in his crate and go night night.

The benedryl seems to be helping with whatever it was that was ailing him.

He's standing in the kitchen crying after having 2 pills three times a day now. I have spent over $200 at the vet. I can't believe he is this upset over cuts on his tail, I keep asking them to sedate him as I think his problems are in his head. I also can't believe the groomer shaved?cut? his tail as this is when all this started.
He has had blood work and urinalysis had his tail cleaned and bandaged $194. Meds have cost me $100 and aren't working. I'm at my wit's end as every time I bring him back it costs me more money.hairpull

The bloodwork and urinalysis was fine.
