| ...was insanely busy. Up at 5:30AM, do stable chores, get dogs ready, get me ready and drive to Edmonton four days in a row Fri - Mon. Made group every day which means we got home at 8 PM every night. This is why my McMuffin got forgotten in the trunk. There were over 900 dogs at this show. Day one little baby bitch puppy did wonderful under a judge from Porto Rico and I was so happy when she placed above a millionaire owned older puppy shown by a pro handler for Best Puppy in Breed. The next day the other dog she placed above won Best Puppy in Show and kicked my ass. Saturday and Sunday Julio got as far as group, (group is the step up for the next class Best of Show which is all the winners of the 7 different groups). Only one dog gets picked and it wasn't us either day but it was a hoot just to get that far. Monday my male puppy did the same as my baby bitch but better and got a 2 point major. I know it's shameless bragging but I am really proud of my guys and gals from my first litter ever and my first year of showing conformation since I was 12. Next show will be in July, only one a month as it's pretty expensive. Was rather "star struck" to be competing again pro handlers and actually doing ok. I really love this breed even with all the grooming involved (yes I might be crazy) but I'm following my dreams even if it takes a few days to catch up on my sleep. My boy Julio below...the first and beginning of my Havanese addiction four years ago. . Wonderful little dog, always happy with a winning attitude in everything we have shown in and a super pet. Didn't get him as a conformation dog but to do agility at first. Who knew that the hair monster that was the brunt of everyone's joke..."shove a handle up his ass and use him as a mop" would be so versatile. | |

| Sounds like you had a lot of fun out in the ring Pooper. It must be a great feeling to get to do the things you always wanted too and get the added joy of seeing your babies excel. Julio is quite the cute boy. | |

| I was thinking the same thing. Congrats pooper. He is a handsome little dude. Do you do all that grooming yourself?

| Thanks everyone for your kind words!!! Yes I do all my own grooming every day. I let them be dogs and get dirty so it takes about 2 hours a day to do all 5 and bath one a day because the cleaner they are the easier the grooming. I'm lucky, they all like baths, teeth brushing and grooming. The trick is in the treats. | |

I like Cresteds but the ones that appeal to me most are the powder puffs and they are quite a bit of grooming too. The breed is a tad too delicate for me, I like my sturdy hairy dogs. I have a number of Crested breeder friends and one breeder who absolutely hates my breed and isn't shy about saying so.

| I've developed an appreciation for the puffs that was not there when I first "discovered" cresties, but maintaining their coats is definitely a lot of work. Incredibly soft coats though - I don't think I've ever felt a coat as soft as a puff coat.
I'm thinking, though, that the heavier coated breeds would be more work. Puffs still don't have a heavy coat.

| There's a certain male nine month old CC puppy that has an interest in my 8 month old girls. He hasn't got it all figured out yet but he has to be watched because he must think they're cold and he needs to cover them up... Anyone for Havapuffs... | |
