A third bomb threat has hit the Ambassador Bridge.

Windsor police said they were notified by customs officials that the call was made to the FBI around 11 p.m. Saturday. The phone number was the same one that called in a bomb threat for the Ambassador Bridge on Wednesday.

“The call was received by the FBI. Same as last time,” said Windsor police Staff Sgt. Jeff Verkoeyen.

Similar to Wednesday’s threat, a sweep of the bridge, on the deck and below it, was being done as traffic continued to cross. The FBI did not treat the threat as viable and determined it was not necessary to close down the bridge.

On Monday, the bridge was closed for about five hours after a similar threat closed the tunnel less than a week before.

This is the seventh bomb threat to hit the Windsor-Detroit area in just over a week. Threats have been made at the Windsor-Detroit Tunnel, the Cobo Center, Comerica Park, the new site of The Windsor Star in downtown Windsor and two others at the Ambassador Bridge.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that the person who called in those threats wants the FBI to become laxed and not take it seriously. This way when there are hundreds of cars on that bridge or even in the tunnel, that's when they make good on their threat. SMH

Years ago we went to visit a relative in Sarnia who wanted to take us to dinner in Michigan. I'm not sure if it's the same bridge but there was a bomb threat that night we had to take a ferry across and drove through a Native Reserve.

Different bridge. Thats the bluewater bridge. It doesn't get near as much traffic as the Detroit-Windsor crossing.

I think the same thing as BBE... It'll be an other unfortunate incident.
