| Basically....they charge you the monthly fees that you are used to paying, then charge you up to $60 on top of that if you download or go over their "limit" per month.
Considering I'm a geek, I will end up paying my $32 a month, plus a $60 fee on top of what I pay now.

I think that you have so many choices of ISP's, that it won't happen there miss key. We basically have bell and rogers. All the other smaller outfits use the lines that bell and rogers supply, which is what has caused the stink to begin with. Bell and rogers OWN us for internet service.

| The only provider we had at one time was Telus and because we are rural dial up was all that was offered. 3 or 4 years ago we bought a dish that is on the roof that picks up our signal and gives us high speed. Not sure if we will be effected by this new decision you mentioned Fleas...I hope not we already pay $60.00 a month. :o | |

| It's going to hurt people that play online games and download or stream tv and movies a lot. I just signed up for Netflix (8 bux a month for unlimited movies??? Sweet deal.) but the problem with that is that it takes up about 4gigs of my limit for each movie because it's in HD. Won't take long to go over my limit with no cable. I also download a ton, play on xbox live sometimes, and have up to 3 pc's running at the same time.
I think I'm just going to get the cheapest they have, and let it go over the 60 bux. Might save a few bux that way.

| A few months ago I switched from $15 a month dial-up to that rip off Bell turbo hub. Though I like the speed, the cap they give you for this is ridiculous. I found out about this when I was given a $140 internet bill for last month. That's with no watching of youtube or any other video sites like cnn news videos, and no downloading of anything. I told the kids they will have to go online to gather any information for school within 2 hours and get off the internet. | |

| I read somewhere that you only get a 5gb limit with those sticks they have now for laptops. Just cause you're on the road, doesn't mean it's all business. | |

My turbo hub only has a 3GB per month limit. It's so easy to go over 3Gigs.

| I hate to tell you, I saw this years ago when I was a PMP
let me give you some numbers.. all of these internet companies do not have their own infractructure. They rely on companies such as telus in order to supply a cheap rate to the consumers. They litterally buy bulk time in pennies.
telus has to maintain that infracture for other peoples consumers.
Lets talk fiber optics. Not sure how this is going to affect sat. But an average cost of a UMC is 100 k. That is a low cost. For a larger subdivision you need at least 2 of them. Now since telus doesn't pull its own cable. Average cable cost is well into 10 k. then add the contractor on top of it. Shit I had bills come across my desk for a subdivision for well over 100 k. You have to put the guts in the UMC at another 20 or 30 k.. depending on how many ports is coming out of that UMC. now it takes a couple of telus crews to cut, splice the fiber into the units. Another 10-20 k. All of this money that telus dishes out so the consumer can get unlimited and cheap internet through another provider. Now with VOIP. So telus provides all the infracture and the bottom line- they do not get any return for their investment besides pennis that the other provider buys for time in bulk. Something has to give. Because as a company they can not sustain new builds without seeing a dramatic impact on the other end. Why do you think it takes so long to get a phone installed for a new subdivision or a new rural acreage. Simple fact is money. Telus doesn't want to invest thousands of dollars for the consumer to turn around and utilize another company and still have to maintain the lines. Doesn't make a lot of business sense. Welcome to the free market. So instead of bitching at big communication companies- understand alittle bit about the money factor. They aren't a charity for other companies. Telus needs a return inorder to supply infranstruture.
I should add, I hate telus with a passion. But I do understand the logic inregards to fighting for this decision. I understand the consumer as well.. But we want all this stuff.. but who has to pay for it and at what costs.

I know, the reason why when someone posts Youtube videos of their pets or something funny, I have to really debate is it worth clicking on the link to watch. Though surfing doesn't run up the cap. I'm seriously thinking about moving to a city (not particularly Windsor) in a few years.

| There should be a set rate for unlimited. Rogers charges 100 bux a month for their best service (that we can get anyway), and now the $60 overage charge. So instead of the overage charge, why not give unlimited for $140? Not everyone that subscribes to this package will go over, yet they will still pay the extra, just in case. It's a winning combination imo. | |
